Community

SILA is a growing network of farmers and prosumers across Lebanon, working together to strengthen agroecology and build resilient local food systems.

Community Roles

Farmer
Ecological food growers who care for the land — nurturing soil health, biodiversity, and water — while farming in ways that are socially and economically fair.
Prosumer
Proactive consumers who actively support local farmers and care about how food is grown, sourced, and shared.
Farm Reviewer
Farm reviewers are trained members of the SILA community who conduct peer-review visits. They include certified SILA farmers, who play a leading role in the review process, as well as prosumers who support the visits. All farm reviewers have a minimum technical understanding of agroecology and receive specific training before taking part in reviews.
Certifying Committee
A group of SILA members responsible for reviewing visit reports and collectively deciding on certification outcomes, with its structure evolving as the network grows.
