What motivates you to be part of SILA?
The PGS to me represents more than a certification framework. It is a living community of trust, care and shared responsibility. It respects the all earth's creatures from microbes to mammals. It reminds us that food is ethical when it starts in the soil and extends to every living thing that comes into interaction with it. My involvement in the PGS stems from a deep belief that justice, transparency and belonging should guide our food systems. It means all community members take responsibility and have agency over our food system, to stand side by side to restore fairness to how we produce, sell and eat culturally appropriate, affordable and nutritious food to improve our food system's resilience and sovereignty. Through this work I see the possibility of reweaving our relationship with the land and our health. Where the land is not just a resource to use but a relative to care for.
