What motivates you to be part of SILA?

I am an environmental and social justice activist and advocate. I believe in food sovereignty because food is a right, not a commodity. I want to know where my food comes from and who is growing it. I envision a sovereign, as-local-as-possible food system that centers farmers and communities rather than profit. Within a neoliberal capitalist system that prioritizes extraction and speed, we need to slow down, degrow, and reimagine what justice and care can look like.
